A+ made from .deb and kapl

Hello:

I'm trying to use A+ on Debian and Ubuntu systems (I use both). I'm
trying to install it using the .deb files that come in the
(respective) repositories. The aplus, kapl, and xemacs .deb files
install without a hitch, and I can read the kapl fonts correctly on
the www.aplusdev.org page. I open xemacs, hit F4, and I get an A+
bufffer. A+ works fine, as long as I don't need kapl.

Kapl doesn't render if I use the keystrokes found on the interactive
keyboard on www.aplusdev.org. Do I need to set something in xemacs or
elsewhere; kapl doesn't render using A+ in command line on the
terminal either.

If there's something in the online documentation describing what to do
after installation, I'd appreciate if someone could point me to it.
If anyone's had a similar experience, I'd also appreciate hearing
about it (particularly if you've managed to resolve it and get a
working A+ system). I've tried this with Ubuntu 9.04, Debian 5, and
Debian sid.

Thanks for any assistance with this.

David,

I use (also Ubuntu) ther following bash script to start A+:
--------------------------------
#!/bin/sh
xmodmap .Xmodmap
xemacs -fn --kapl-screen-r-normal--15-150-72-72-m--iso8859-1
--------------------------------

Where .Xmodmap is as follows:
--------------------------
clear mod1
keycode 0x70 = Alt_R
keycode 0x40 = Super_R
add mod1 = Super_R
add mod3 = Alt_R
sasha@zenon2:~$
-----------------------

/Sasha.

Hi.

The .Xmodmap thing doesn't work yet on my system, maybe because I am
already using xmodmap to connect my wireless keyboard properly. So I
found a little workaround: starting xterm with the kapl font and
xemacx with an a+ session, then type the phrase in xterm and copy-
paste it into xemacs. The kapl types are not well displayed but the
interpreter understands the phrase. Please tell me when you've found a
straightforward way to to it.
