Subject: Workstation APL2 Version 2 Service Level 11
The IBM APL Products and Services group is pleased to announce Service Level
11 for Workstation APL2 for Multiplatforms Version 2.0. This new service
level is available for all Workstation APL2 platforms including AIX, Linux,
Sun Solaris, and Windows.

Along with fixes for customer reported problems, Service Level 11 contains
the following enhancements:

All platforms:

The limit on the number of names on the left of the assignment arrow when
using vector specification has been lifted.

New external function REPLACEX is a high-performance routine to replace
instances of a string or strings in a character vector.

AP 127's restrictions on the length of the id and password parameters to
CONNECT have been lifted.

Support has been added to AP 127 and AP 227 for the XML column datatype.

Windows:

The "APL Assist" is a new optional toolbar containing all the APL2 special
characters.  APL characters can be placed into the session manager or editor
window at the current cursor position by clicking on them in the toolbar,
regardless of the APL keyboard setting.

Files (.apl or .atf) can now be dropped on the session manager window.

The new "Refresh" menu choice and toolbar button in the editors re-opens the
object using the latest saved definition.

Namespace versions of the GUITOOLS and GUIVARS workspaces are shipped with
the APL2 product.

A Unicode window mode is supported by the AP 207 'OPEN' command.

AP 145 extensions include Progress bar controls, mouse wheel support,
Horizontal split bars for dialogs, Horizontal scroll bars for Combobox and
Listbox controls, the STATE ENABLE property for static controls and multiple
value support in GET_PROPERTY and SET_PROPERTY.

Service Level 11 is available through the Support option at the APL2 home
page to customers with a Software Maintenance contract.

Further information on the new facilities will be found in the updated APL2
User's Guide and on-line help after installing Service Level 11. A complete
list of fixes included in this level will be found in the updated README
(Unix systems) or "Service Information" (Windows systems) file.
