For several weeks I've only been able to log into Google sporadically.
I can generally log into my gmail account including the contacts. I
can't link to my calendar from gmail or log in directly. Google
Earth comes up normally. I can't use Google search; I've been relying
on Ask lately--that's how I found a few G00gle-related groups like
this one.
I have MSIE 8 and Operas 11 and 12--all act exactly the same way. When
I try to reach a Google URL, the typical result is a long search
after which I get an error message, either an "unknown or non-existent
URL" or a listing of some of the separate Google categories like
Google Images. I can reach a few of them, but less than half the
list. I can't link from one to another from any I've reached. I can
ping
google.com normally with fast response times. I've tried to use
Google's public DNS but my system rejects it. I've returned to
default setting of automatically finding a DNS server.
Links to other URLs are completely normal with any of the three
browsers.
I've searched my registry directly and run searches for errors or
problems--no luck.
I've searched my AVG anti-virus settings and my Windows Firewall for
blocks, without success.
I understand that Google is doing a lot of shifting around, but
haven't read or heard anything that might apply to what I'm
experiencing.
I have my contacts, calendar, and phone book linked between my
smartphone and Google, so I'd sort of like to be able to use the
calendar from my desktop again. :-) Anybody have suggestions,
please?
