konqueror: is this using a third clipboard?

There is an annoying problem that occurs with copying and pasting between
applications on Unix due to multiple cut and paste buffers being used.
(The mouse uses PRIMARY, but X11 application menus generally use CLIPBOARD).

I am having a real problem with konqueror, due to what looks like an
intermittent fault, which is detailed below:

I often edit wiki pages, web pages, and text documents. This means that I am
often copying and pasting text between a console window, Mozilla Composer
(or sometimes I use kompozer), and the konqueror browser window.

Intermittently a fault occurs on konqueror, where I am unable to paste
text that have selected from another application into the form text box on
konqueror (neither the right click method (via PRIMARY), nor the CLIPBOARD
(Menu, Edit, Paste) paste methods work). Likewise the problem occurs in
reverse, when I am trying to take text from the konqueror window to another
application. It is as if konqueror is sometimes using a third cut and paste
buffer that is neither PRIMARY or CLIPBOARD.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Could this problem be due to the fact that konqueror is a KDE application, but
I am not actually running KDE. My Window Manager, and the other applications
that I am using are not KDE, and the intermittent fault is due to a clipboard
issue relating to KDE specifics?

Mark.
