Each has its supporters, and each has its drawbacks. No one can adequately
answer the question as it also depends upon your other usage, what plugins
you may have, your local security, the site you might be using, and dozens
of other factors [such as how CLEAN your own computer is].

Regardless of all the claims on the Internet of how secure a particular
protocol, site or otherwise is; the Internet is a cesspool of hackers,
scammers, and other parties constantly trying to hack other peoples
computers and websites, and obtain money for sitting on one's behind for
free. What might seem secure today, may be wide open tomorrow. The best you
can hope for and should search for, is a fairly secure site which has a
history of being secure.
When making purchases use a *LIMITED debit card*, with ONLY the amount
required or a little extra, just in case. That both limits overcharges,
false charges, and the like, but also limits any potential ID theft or card
theft/usage.

Good idea. I hate plugging them ,but bank of America, and probably
other banks, has them as accessories to one's regular credit card.
You decide how much money goes into them and how long the number is
good for, and you get a new number that is only for that much for that
long. You add more money online.

I am pretty sure they'd all be vulnerable to a root kit.

You left out (maybe deliberately, as they lack functionality, though N's
not bad):

OffByOne
Netscape (7.2, 8, 9?)
Lynx (I _think_ that _works_ under Windows)
