Serving large numerical datasets

Is anyone serving large numerical datasets via gopher? I am thinking of
datasets containing information like census data. I would want to be able
to do subsetting (ie give me the records where the second field is greater
than 10 and less than 20). I am aware of the SQL->Gopher service that
the Australian National Botanic Gardens runs to serve up botanical information,
but as near as I can tell it does not permit numerical subsetting. Any
leads appreciated.
