The College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland, Maryland’s iSchool, invites creative and forward-thinking individuals to apply for a faculty position. We are looking for a new colleague with an outstanding record of research and teaching in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The ideal candidate will:

The iSchool is a multicultural environment where research and teaching share the highest priority, and where rich collaboration is the norm. We are a faculty that engages in a broad range of research with the shared theme of information, technology and people. The iSchool, together with the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS), is home to Maryland’s Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCIL), one of the world’s earliest and most respected HCI labs (
http://hcil.cs.umd.edu). The iSchool is also known internationally for vibrant programs of interdisciplinary research in archives and records management, cloud computing, computational linguistics, digital humanities, diverse populations, information policy, information retrieval, innovation, and learning environments. Faculty members in the iSchool and the HCIL hold appointments in Computer Science, Psychology, Public Health, Education, Journalism, Business, English, UMIACS, and other units on campus. The iSchool enrolls approximately 500 students in four degree programs: Ph.D. in Information Studies, M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction, Master of Library Science, and Master of Information Management; faculty teach across programs. This is a 9-month tenured or tenure-track appointment, with opportunities for grant-funded summer research. Salary and benefits are competitive based upon qualifications and experience.
Qualifications. Ph.D. or equivalent in a related area; demonstrated research excellence; demonstrated ability to attract external support for research; strong evidence of effective and innovative teaching.
