Control Wiring Recommendations for Switches and Sockets?

Folks,

My optimism at Leviton's recent announcements have been muted since they
are not using two way control of their scenes. Therefore, I would like to
put off the lighting control decision for as long as possible. This means
that I need to run control wires to each switch and socket.

What kind of control wires should I run? Cat 5? Shielded Twisted Pair? What
does RS-485 need?

I was expecting to run a daisy chain control wire in parallel with each
circuit from the breaker box. Therefore, I would have as many RS-485 runs as
I have circuits for lighting loads and sockets. Any comments?

if you are going for a "wired" system you might want to look at my website
for some information. If you use this system (which is patented) you can use
virtually any type of computer control. Check out both

explains how to build the system and there will be information added over
time. I am an electrical contractor with over 30 years experience and I
invented this system (and the products). The system is intended for use in
USA and Canada.
