Hi,
Can anyone tell me - is the hardware in rack mounted servers the same
as normal PCs? Or, for example, are the motherboards for socket 360
cpus or for slot 1? I would like to buy a rack mount server case, and
then add parts.

it's the same. Just get a rack-mount case that fits your stuff... Watch the
height -- a 1U server probably wont provide enough space to fit your CPU
cooler.
