TFS Gateway for Lotus Notes <-> Internet Mail (UUCP)
=================================================

With the TFS gateway your Lotus Notes will be fully integrated
with Internet Mail via the UUCP Protocol. There are also
TFS Gateway connections to Internet from cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail
and Novell GroupWise (previously WordPerfect OFFICE).
Ask Your retailer for more information about these other
TFS products.

FEATURES
TFS is developed with special consideration to international
conditions and has such refinements as character conversions
for different character sets. The character conversion can be
set individually at different levels down to the adressee level.
Handling addresses to Internet Mail is also easy for Lotus Notes
users as TFS handles the special characters used in Internet Mail.

The administrator is in control of who is to use TFS, and can
limit the size of the messages for each individual user to be
sent out on the Internet via TFS. When binary files are sent
out/received by TFS, they are automatically packed/unpacked
in UNIX format (uuencode/uudecode).
Messages received by TFS are automatically controlled in
order to confirm which character set is used and the message is
then converted to the right character set.

MIME
TFS supports MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions),
a type of standard to handle character sets, binary files, sound
and graphics. TFS handles MIME as it handles other types of
character sets, which means that You can choose to send
MIME at an addressee level. Incoming messages in MIME
format are treated correctly by TFS.

DIME / MAILBACK
TFS can handle Direct Information Message Exchange,
meaning that information can be sent to a previously
determined library structure without needing to go via a person.
With DIME and an additional product that is delivered with the
TFS, You can build Your own Mailback System.
What this implies is that the customer or business partner
sends an e-mail message to a specific address, the requested
information is then automatically sent back to the person.

REFINEMENTS
To furthermore increase the security of the mail system, it
is possible to install a VIRUS-check to control incoming
binary files. Signature files can also be generated by TFS.
In addition to this, one can also join together, compress
AND encrypt messages that are sent between one TFS and
another. This TFS concept is called "Tunneling".
This enables companies, with e.g. several offices, to use
TFS as Postmaster at the offices and Internet as carrier
of the information between the offices - instead of the
offices being dependent on calling each other.

HOW TO SET UP A TFS GATEWAY
