My employer has a company trainer who travels from location to location
conducting technical classes for employees of a certain discipline.

I am trying to create a calendar program that will enable the trainer to
create an appointment in the Teamroom Calendar. The appointment would
have a title/description/duration/location and number of seats
available. Managers could then reserve seats with employee or client
names (these individuals may or may not have e-mail accounts). Training
documents would be imbedded or linked in the classroom document. These
documents could be sent to an internal high-volume printer or
electronically submitted to the local Kinkos, Office Depot or other
Printing and Binding facility.

Notification of new classes would be done either through an automated e-
mail or subscription to the Teamroom. Fridays, the manager would be
reminded of the class starting the next week.

Eventually I would like the managers to be able to submit class requests
either free-form or from a predefined list of class subjects. The
training classroom calendar would link to the trainer's calendar
directly or through a group calendar definition.

I have the process blocked out. I've designed the forms. I need to
begin programming. I'm looking for a good starting reference. Mark
Elliott wrote a book called "Lotus(R) Notes(R) Developer's Toolbox: Tips
for Rapid and Successful Deployment" I'll be working in Notes/Domino 7
or 8. Is this a good reference? Are there others available? Redbook
suggestions? Am I in over my head?

Thanks in advance

Jay
