LOTUS DOMINO: INCREASE 2 GB PHYSICAL MEMORY LIMIT (WIN 32-BIT) |
DominoNews
This article will instruct you how to increase performance on your
Domino
Server by increasing the physical memory available to Domino from 2 GB
to 3 GB.
Windows 2003 Server (32-bit) and Windows 2000 Server (32-bit) can only
support
4 GB maximum memory. Lotus Domino and other applications running on
these
operating systems can only utilize 2 GB physical memory plus virtual
memory
(hard drive swap file). If your Windows Server has 4 GB memory
installed you
can configure it to allow Domino to use 3 GB physical memory as seen
below.
Windows can only allocate more than 2 GB physical memory to
applications which
are "Large Address Aware". Domino 7.0.1 and higher support Large
Address Aware.

Notes/Domino Best Practices: Transaction Logging | Lotus support
The following document is a draft checklist for Domino Best Practices
– Transaction Logging. The document includes references, links and
Best Practice guidelines. The Transaction Logging process captures
database changes and writes them sequentially to the transaction log.
This improves performance and ensures data integrity of databases by
committing to the transaction log first before writing to the Notes
database. If a critical failure occurs and the server is restarted the
databases will be automatically recovered without the need for a
consistency check or you can use the transaction log and a third-party
backup utility to recover your databases when archival logging is
used. Its main purpose is three-fold: to improve performance on the
Domino server through sequential writes to the transactional logs,
better data integrity by avoiding inconsistencies and data corruption,
and faster server restart and
crash recovery.

Changes to the Lotus iNotes type-ahead feature in 8.5.1 | Domino wiki
The type-ahead feature in IBM Lotus iNotes was introduced in 8.5 for
lite mode only, and was enabled using the Notes.ini settings
iNotes_WA_NameTypeahead and iNotes_WA_NameTypeaheadStartTimeout.
However, as of 8.5.1, type-ahead is on by default for all modes, and
these two settings, which were previously required to enable type-
ahead, are obsolete. Although type-ahead is on by default, there are
new Notes.ini settings you can use to define the type-ahead feature,
including two settings for the ultra-light mode, which uses a subset
of names from the type-ahead list.

from the ones that were used in version 8.5 and earlier. However, the
old spelling dictionaries are not automatically replaced by new
spelling dictionaries, and may still exist in the Notes\Data

Domino 8.5: DAOS and The Space Used Column | Domino wiki
One of the original features of the Notes Storage Facility (NSF file)
was the ability to track the actual space within the file being
consumed by data. Displayed as a percentage, the "Space Used" value
(or "% Used" in Database Properties) gave users a way to gauge how
much of the total physical byte size of an NSF file was actually being
used to store data. This value was useful when implementing quotas or
to see when additional space on the file system could be realized by
the compaction of larger, "bloated" NSF files.
