I would like to use computer graphics to visualize the effect that
results from:

-separately coloring/patterning a number of rectangles

-transforming each rectangle into a 3D shape, e.g., a cylinder

-placing the cylinders side by side

-rotating each cylinder around its vertical axis by individually
specifying the speed of rotation for each cylinder

I would appreciate recommendations for novice friendly software that
has the functionality described
