What is default orientation of cubic environment maps in world space?

Could someone please tell me the default orientation of a RenderMan
cubic environment map? The docs indicate it is left handed. I need to
know the correspondence between the environment map coordinate frame
and a right handed world space coordinate frame with +Z at the "up
axis".
