toolbars please help

My effects and standard toolbars do not have that double "key" like the
painting tools box has so that when I open an image it gets hidden behind
the effects and standard toolbars. How can I get the image to appear so
that I don't have to move those toolbars (effects and standard) Also, now
those same toolbars are squares instead of straight across. Whar to do? TIA

Drag the toolbars onto a free grey area in either the top or left hand
toolbar space. The floating 'effects' and 'standard' toolbars that you now
have will then anchor themselves to the proper toolbar area.

For your information, if you right click on a grey part of the toolbar
areas, select Customize and the Toolbars tab, you can select or deselect any
of the toolbars in this way.
