How do I get a good watercolr effect in PSP? The inbuilt filter/brush
seems very inferior compared to some of the PS crated watercolor
pictures about.

Here are the instructions to something I made yesterday. I tried to make it
look more like a painting without using the paintbrush effect. I used 3
quick filters that come with Paint Shop Pro:
fur effect: blur=4, density=30, length=5, transparency=20.
Gaussian Blur: radius=0.80
Edge Preserving Smooth(I found this on the effects browser): amount of
smoothing=5

This seems to work better with a scene with alot of detail, not so much a
person photograph.

Try the Paint Engine plugin, it's free and excellent for painterly
effects. Make sure you read the 'readme' that's included with the
download, so you'll know how to get the presets to show up.

Angela,

To quote you.....

"Keep in mind that the effects can be varied by applying the filter to a
duplicate layer of the image and using blend modes and other tools to fine
tune your image"

Thank you for that tip! I have not had much luck with it, yet I see great
results from Ron V. and others!

This one gives a nice effect; except, I used Unsharp Mask instead of just
Sharpen. I did it with a closeup of a flower, but now I think I'll try a
'people picture.' : )

Try it on a picture of Jackie. She's not too sharp :-)

Glad it helps :-)

This tutorial, to me, looks more like a pen and ink with color wash.
Makes for a rather long title though :-) If you like the tutorials that
this gal does, probably you ought to either print them off or save to
your hard drive, it seems like I'm constantly chasing her content
around. Sometimes it'll disappear for a few months and then be back on
another server. The last two times, she's emailed me with new locations,
hopefully she'll keep doing that if she moves again.

My, but you're really obsessed with me. Mike's right - net toys *can*
be fun.

Btw, what ever happened to that apologia you were planning to email
me? Couldn't get your story straight?

Funny, that's what you're friends were saying about you.

Isn't it a little late for you to be up? I thought by now, your mother

To all newsgroup participants -

Uni is a known troll and disseminator of disinformation. Considering his
postings to be anything other than a pathetic grab for attention is
fool-hardy at best. Please be warned if you engage in conversation with him,
you do so at the risk of your own time and possible future knowledge with
PSP, Internet and computer-related.

Well, he has people who behave like friends sometimes because he is
useful to them for some reason or another, and he has people who haven't
wised up enough to know that he's a waste of skin.
