Hi,

Does anyone know how to produce a pastel-like effect in PSP6?

If you mean a pastel chalk drawing effect, try Fantastic Machine's
Paint Engine. It will convert an image into any number of painted
effects.

If you want to create this effect from an existing image you might try
turning down the saturation a bit. Pastels are nothing more than washed out
colors. I think this is what you are asking.

If you are looking for something to change a completed work into
something similar to a pastel painting then the other posters have
already given you some good suggestions.

If you want to create a pastel from scratch - then try selecting the
brush tool (or most any of the drawing tools) -- then on the Tool
Options Palette -- select the screen with the brush (the upper left
corner of the tool palette) -- click on the brush icon with the little
triangle beside it (upper right of the screen) You will see a drop down
list that will allow you to chose the type of "brush effect" you want.
I find that the Chalk and Charcoal options give me an effect similar to
pastels (and I don't even have to wear a protective mask!) You will have
to play around with the hardness and density settings until you get what
you want.

Hope this helps.
