PSP procedure lighten darken landscape sky

Hello,

When shooting sunsets or similar, often the sky is too bright and the
foreground too dark.
Some time ago I read about a procedure in PS to enhance this kind of
sky-landscape shots.
One layer with the correct sky, a second layer with the landscape
(foreground) oke.
Merging the two with gaussian blur etc... the rest I forgot.

Someone knows a procedure, tool, filter, script in PSP to realise this?
Searched on the net, found nothing.

Go on have a play Make a light and dark copy of the same image then place on
on top of the other and see what the use of Blend modes such as overlay,
multiply and screen ect. do.

Then again this is basically what HDR images are only the have a shadow
Highlight and normal layer.
If your PSP does not have HDR then you can use Arithmetic

You can do it without layers. Select sky, reverse selection, adjust
brightness up.

This is what I did, but wasn't quite what I wanted.
