Interesting . . .

I'm looking at buying HD camera systems at the moment so we can do
docos in between animation series.

I really like the look of the Red One modular system and have been
discussing it with Avid as to ease of import to the Adrenaline.
Apparently Avid have gone inot SDK partnership with Red. I was
concerned about Red being a new company and was going to go Sony. But
if Avid have sold off SI, I wonder what they are up to?

I'm nervous about buying into technology from a new company (anyone
remember Opalvision?) but reckon the Red system looks bloody good. And
the owner made a fortune from his Oakley sunglasses company so I guess
he has capital behind him. And if Avid are willing to go in as
partners, as are Apple, then it should be pretty solid.

The weird bit is Avid selling SI. I thought that would have given them
a broad range. I wonder how much of SI will come across to 3DSMax? Not
that I've done a project in Max for 2 years now.

Yeah, I just found out about this the other day and was kinda bumbed out.
I mean, I don't want them to ruin XSI.
I'm looking to buy that program sometime and would hate for it to end up
looking like how Maya now looks like Max.

Sheesh, lame............................md :(

Hi Mark. Have you used Max?

I found it quite strong in certain areas, even though I did initial
modelling in Lightwave then moved the basic model over to Max.

Yeah, I really only use Max to make things drive around and like that,
as I can just use my game pad for that.
Wished there was something like that for LW, but oh well.
And yes, I know someone has a similar thingy for LW, but it doesn't work
like the Max plugin does that
lets you use a game pad to just drive your vehicle around the place,
like the Max plugin let's you do.
I can model somewhat in Max, but prefer LW or really, now I do all my
modeling in modo as it's waaayyy more user friendly to model with then
LW is.
And I was saving up to upgrade to modo 4 when it came out, but had to
just spend all my savings
rebuilding my puter to a larger system, so now I'm back to the start of
needing to re-save all over again LOL
I like to save out my Vue terrains and then import that into Max and
then do the driving around and save all that out as a
VOB to import into Vue, but really, now with Vue 7 xStream, a lot of
this will now be far more easier on me, both for LW and Max.
But, for now, everything fun is on hold until I get my new full tower
case in a couple of few days and then can install my
current system into that with more room and a much larger, more powerful
PSU and better cooling
system and all the rest and then I can get back to playing 3D and
enjoying myself :)
