I am running GIMP 2.2.15 under WinXPHome with a Wacom tablet CTE-430
(Sapphire?). The mouse and/or the stylus are sometimes misbehaving when
using certain tools. For example: I can not set the crop area with the
Wacom mouse. Wacom works fine in other image editing programs.
How can I get it to work correctly in GIMP?
I tried to set Input Devices in Preferences but have no clue what to do
there. For example: in Wacom Tablet Pressure Stylus the Axes tab is
blank so what do I do with that?
Thanks,

This may or may not provide any assistance whatsoever, but... there was
another post to this group just a few days ago (I think) where someone
was having difficulties if they drew too fast or something like that.

This may be an issue related to GIMP, and as such may need to be
reported? *shrugs*

I am using Linux only. But there the Wacom support wasn't that good
even in early versions of 2.3.x while now the support seems excellent
(On Linux one needs a recent version of linuxwacom installed)
So upgrade to the most recent 2.3.x version!

Hey all. I am having the same problem and it appears to be a problem
with GTK compatibility with Wacom tablets- I have tried Gimp, Gimp
Shop and Inkscape all of which run on GTK (I have the latest release)
and my experience has been the same- cursor badly lags to the point
where I cannot use the program(s) with the pen tablet. it is neither
an OS issue since Mac, Linux and Windows users have experienced the
same problem. I found this thread having done a Google search "wacom
and gtk on windows" hoping to find a solution. Others have suggested
updating Wacom drivers, but I am running Vista, and rather than simply
installing the drivers it came with, I specifically downloaded the
lastest just to avoid any Vista problems. My tablet works fine in
everything that doesn't require GTK, pressure sensitivity and all. I
am very disappointed with the lack of responce from Gimp (GTK is their
baby), and it seems this same problem has been around of quite a
while, and there doesn't seem to be a solution yet, or at least I
haven't run into one yet. If I find a solution I'll be glad to pass on
the info. Best of luck.

Yes, please pass on any information you may run across.

Okay. After days of reading the same stuff, someone (on one of the
numerous pages I had seen) mentioned Glade from the Source Forge page.
Apparently, and mind you, I am NOT a programmer, Glade is a dev tool
that has the latest GTK +2 release, plus all of the atk, glib, Pango,
Cairo shtuff, plus all of their respective dependencies packaged in
one install! I had seen a mention of the various individual shtuff
mentioned above as being necessary to fix the Wacom problem, but
wasn't sure where to put all of it when I downloaded it, so I
downloaded Glade (for me, the Win32 ver.), and it appears to have
improved my experience with Inkscape- haven't yet tried it with Gimp,
but since they both run on GTK, it should work. It still lags a bit,
but not nearly as bad. Once I begin a brush action, it works smoothly,
but in between it is still a bit buggy. Puck (the mouse that came with
the Wacom) was off- the start of a brush stroke was up and to the left
of the actual cursor, but my pen was right where I pointed it. The
link below is to the Win32 ver of Glade, so people running other OS's
might go to the main Source Forge page and search for Glade according
to their OS. Obviously this problem still needs tweaking from the
developer, but it at least seems to minimize the bugginess enough to
be usable. Hope this helps.

BTW. Once Glade is installed, you don't have to run it. I simply
rebooted for good measure, and I did set the input device to the pen
and on "screen" (in Inkscape- should be the same in Gimp). Here's the
link:

Hrmm... I am confused about a few things.

1. The Glade thingie contains a version of GTK+ higher than what they
offer on their download pages?

It appears to me that you could have just downloaded their separate
packages of GTK+.

2. The highest version they appear to have is 2.10.11, whereas
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html has 2.10.13.

3. So, did you actually upgrade GTK+ as a result of installing the
Glade thingie, or did you downgrade?

I seem to experience this problem in Inkscape, oddly enough only when
using the pencil tool. The calligraphy pen is *slightly* affected, but
not much.

I have the same problem with the Wacom mouse but with all of the
selection tools when using Gimp for Windows. However, all of the
selection tools including crop work find when using the Wacom Pen. I
think Gimp recognizes a conflict between the Windows and Wacom mice.
