Hi

Two questions:

1. I "installed" the portable version. And then i installed the
documentaion. But Gimp states, there are no local documentaion installed.

2. ok, then i tried to install the normal version. But the installer
didn't let me set the installation-directory. Prev. versions of gimp
gave me the oppurtunity to choose the install-location.

I prefer the portable version: Any idea, how i can use the local-
documentation with the portable gimp ?

If this is not possible: Any idea how to choose the
installation-directory for the non-portable version ?

I used the help file from http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

Let the .exe do the installation and in Gimp changed the following setting

edit --> preferences --> help system --> user manual and choose 'use a
locally installed copy' and press OK

This works for the non-portable Gimp version (2.8.4) in XP.
Most likely it works this way also in Win7

This is exactly what i did. And gimp cannot find it. I mean the portable
version.

I tried to install it in the portable-gimp-directory.

It seems, the helpfile is only for non-portable versions. Because while
installation it said: i cannot find gimp.

The NON-Portable-Version is only important to me, when i can choose the
installation-directory. I really don't like programs, that choose the
location by itself. As i said: in earlier gimp-versions i had the
possibility to do that.

Uninstall GIMP and when you install it afterwards you'll be able to select
the installation directory.

It works. Normally i never uninstall the older Version of an program,
till the newer version seems to be ok. And so i wanted to install the
new gimp additional.

Now the local-help works as well.

Thank you :-)
