Brush Selector Keeps Hiding Painter IX (Mac)

I am using Painter IX for Mac. I use the latest system, Tiger 10.4.
When I click on new tools or make a new brush selection from a custom
palette, my Brush Selector bar disappears, hides. ---- How can I force
it to "show always"?
