Hey folks..
I'm planning on applying for either a degree or certificate in computer
animation/visual effects. At the moment i don't know which area to
specialize in (either effects or animation). I have a list of schools here
that i have researched and i wondered, supposingly if i get into them all,
which would i go to. Could someone help me narrow it down, pros/cons?

Savannah College of Art and Design BFA(visual effects & animation)

School of Visual Arts, NYC -- BFA - either dynamic effects or computer
animation.

Ringling school of art and Design -- BFA-computer animation.

Acadmey of art college, SF -- its not regionally accredited though.

Pratt, NYC BFA-- i know its good, but how good is the computer graphics
department?

NYU, Tisch School -- this seems more film orientated than animation, so its
not high on my list...few courses in CG.

Coggswell Polytech

Santa Monica School of Entertainment -- certificate

Vancouver Film School

USC and UCLA -- both graduate degrees..

Thanks for your help.

Hi Alan,
From this list I would say that Ringling School of Art and Design BY
FAR surpasses all the rest.

Ok--the problem with Ringling is that it doesn't have any visual FX courses,
it is only animation...and i wanted to try different areas of CG.
Anybody else?

What, are you nuts?

These are mostly exceptionally good schools, such that it's very hard
to distinguish their best graduates. I've worked with graduates of
most of them and while the Ringling graduate I know well is great at
what he does I don't think there's anything about the program or the
school as such that would warrant such ebullience.
