Metaverse Programming Books?
Greetings, Can anyone suggest a book as a starting point for someone interested in coding metaverse-like environments? To give an idea of my skill level, I've worked with PHP for a few years. Some postgreSQL, bash, very slight amount of perl, sed, awk. So "fairly noobish" but not "utterly ignorant of programming constructs, methodology," etc.... more »

TCP File Transfer behind NAT
Dear All, Can anyone tell me, how to write such a program that can transfer files (either binary or text) behind NAT devices( such as for computers behind firewalls and routers and other NAT devices) using TCP socket programming. After searching through 225 books on this topic on amazon.com, I've only found great books for game programming in python and pygame, java and allegro (c/c++).... more »

Multiplets
Once I got over the generic user interface, which I will admit was more than a little intimidating, I really nailed some great results! I am going to try to find out if they are going to put up a user's gallery. This depth enhancement method is very strong and without messing up my backgrounds or skin textures. I'll have to see about... more »

3D Model moveable elements
Hello, Prefix: I am very much new to 3d modeling and programming. I appreciate that this maybe somewhat off topic. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations as to an easy method of moving elements of a 3D model. For example a rudder on a plane. I have written my own 3ds file format parser and openGL renderer which works... more »
