Steven Heller has tweeted that Dan X. Solo has passed away.

There's not much more information in his tweet at:

but I'm sure that there will be more available soon.

I understand that he spoke at the recent Typecon in San Francisco.

Sad news. The earliest I can recall being interested in type _per se_ I
was about ten, tracing lettering for school reports, signs, and whatnot
from a Dover edition of his. This would have been in the early 1970s;
the title was something like _Victorian Display Alphabets_.
