gsport reads msdos disks
I just discovered something I didn't know but maybe everyone else does. I downloaded an MSDOS 622 3.5 1.44 HD image from bootdisk.com - file: 622c.img. I installed the msdos FST to the gs/os hard drive and it reads the msdos image in S5,D1 !!! Does gsport emulate the 'superdrive' ??? Larry

modifying gsport to not patch rom
My goal sometime in the future is to create a 'ROMmable' source to recreate the ROM 03 byte for byte. I am about half done. Then I would be able to test ROM modifications in emulation just for fun since it would never be cost effective to do in hardware. I have been using the gsport emulator and discovered that it indeed does modify the rom in memory to patch some bugs. I then realized if I were to produce a modified rom that gsport would poke in the patches and make it crash. I consulted with David and he indicated where to 'rem out the patches'. After spending almost the whole weekend I finally got a cygwin environment to build gsport. I then rem'd out the patch code and now it leaves the rom alone !!! Now I can go to bed !!!... more »

Jace: Massive checkin but still inflight
[link] It's a big changelist. And I'm not done yet. Jace has two things in-flight right now: 1) All modal dialogs are managed internally so that they don't have to be shown as pop-up windows. What that means is that the UI can be easily re-adapted to a format that doesn't allow popup frames, such as a Java Applet. The Jace application (app) will continue to use pop-up windows as it does today. But internally, they are now controlled in one place and that can change depending on if the program is running as an App or as an Applet.... more »
