yes, you need to customize the font for various things.
i don't recommend it because emacs's font style for programing
languages are used across all languages. For example, function is
blue, strings is a bit orange, coments are red, etc., in any
language. Also, emacs face coloring are designed so it's also usable

Please upgrade your copy of sunrise-x-loop.el, I've just uploaded a
new version everywhere (BTW also sunrise-x-mirror has to be upgraded,
if you use it).

I just ran into this when I thought I'd try out emacs 23.
I also use fvwm.
I solved it by recompiling emacs with --with-x-toolkit=athena

I'd like to fontify a whole bunch of function names for a project I'm
working on (which uses lisp mode -- for reference, I'm using GNU emacs
23.1.1).
Almost all of the functions start with the same prefix "qbb-" so that
