Subject: Open large files
I wanted to open a file greater than 2 GB on a 64 bit machine with 8 GB
RAM. Emacs said "Maximum buffer size exceeded". Than I looked at the
variable "most-positive-fixnum": The value is 576460752303423487. This
is really huge, but therefore I don't understand why emacs gives this
error message!

Any ideas?

Regards
Burkhard
