From: Jerome Mrozak Subject: [Q]: Key to jump between braces? {} Date: 1998/09/08 Message-ID: <35F5FC25.EA7F7C16@mcs.net>#1/1 X-Deja-AN: 389267138 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Organization: MCSNet Services Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Mime-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: comp.emacs.xemacs,gnu.emacs.help I'm a newbie to emacs, and I'm looking for a key I find very convenient in my DOS-based editors and also in vi. When the cursor is on a parenthesis or a brace, if I press "the key", the cursor jumps to the matching parenthesis or brace. I can jump back and forth to assure myself that I've the correct block. This isn't the same as "flashing" when I complete a block. I want to go to pre-existing text and discover its matching braces. I suppose I could write it (after all, its only a lisp macro :) but that's a lot of work for a newbie. I'm afraid it might even keep me in vi-land (chicken, I know, but I like the easy way out now and then). Thanks, Jerome. -- Jerome Mrozak - Sun Certified Java Developer & Programmer -- go...@mcs.net -
