compression knee interpolation
|
| |
howdy, i have a perhaps kind of silly question. i'm trying to program a compressor with a variable knee, expressed as dB above and below the compression threshold. given the threshold, knee and ratio, i'd like to compute an interpolation function (preferably a polynomial for speed) that matches the values and first derivatives at the start and endpoints of... more »

Link Port booting
|
| |
We're trying to boot up a TS201 over Link Port 0. According to the documentation, any link port can be used for booting, but how does the processor know *which* one to expect data on? Do you have to hold the BCMPI lines of the unused ports in any particular state? Unfortunately, three of the link ports are connected to two FPGAs, and... more »

Window selection for Hilbert Transformer
|
| |
I am generating FIR Hilbert transformers with the following code: function b = hlbt(n) if (rem(n, 2) == 0) usage("n must be odd"); endif n = n + 1; i = [-n/2+1:n/2-1]; b = 2/n * (sin(pi*i/2).^2).*cot(pi*i/n); b(n/2) = 0;... more »

DSP implementation on an FPGA: Best HDL?
|
| |
I'm beginning a University research project that will be doing some pretty intense signal processing (a software defined radio, including a 17-state Extended Kalman Filter) on an FPGA. I would like to ask anybody with experience in this area to comment on whether VHDL or Verilog would be an appropriate choice for this DSP design. Is there... more »

NEWBIE QUESTION: "DSP For Scientists and Engineers." No Maths?
|
| |
I am reading the free online book "DSP for Scientists and Engineers." Fantastic. Concepts are explained clearly, and with a limited amount of maths. Seems almost TOO good to be true. I am asking myself the question, am I missing out by not having the maths? I guess it depends on what you are trying to do...... more »

Can LDPC and Bit-loaded OFDM be combined efficiently?
|
| |
Hi guys I have a question about the use of LDPC codes and different bit- loadings which naturally occur as part of a large number of OFDM systems (802.16e, for example). I have seem a few methods in the literature for using LDPC with multi-level (e.g. BICM, MLC, etc.) but none of them seem to tackle the problem I'm interested in.... more »

Digital Up Conversion - low signal power and SNR
|
| |
Hi, Signal in digital domain: Centre at 10Mhz, with bandwidth of 10Mhz. The signal is sampled by a DAC at the rate of 80Mhz. Analog output: Fundamental at 10Mhz and many images following that, one of image is the signal of interest which is located at 90Mhz. The signal will be preserved by applying a suitable band pass filter,... more »

3D coherence function
|
| |
I am trying to find the correlation between two EEG signals as a function of their frequencies: Cxy (fx, fy). MATLAB has something similiar in the signal processing toolbox: the magnitude squared coherence function, mscohere, which computes the correlation of 2 signals at any one frequency - Cxy(f).... more »
