cfgmaker hanging issue

I have been using mrtg-2.17.0 for a few weeks now without issue.
Lately I was trying to have a separate instance of MRTG running on the
same system. When I go to run cfgmaker with " mrtg-2.17.0\bin\perl
cfgmaker communi...@x.x.x.x --global "WorkDir: c:\www\mrtg" --
output mrtg.cfg " The program simply hangs. I checked task manager and
next to 0 CPU power is being utilized so it's not loading anything,
and the network graph shows that nothing is happening either. If i
enter in the incorrect community string it correctly fails. (thus
confirming that the program does work) What could be the source of
this problem?

On a side note, lets assume the machine gods have conspired against me
and that no matter what I do cfgmaker will not correctly generate an
mrtg.cfg file. Can I take functioning mrtg.cfg files and modify them
to work? I tried this with the find and replace function, changing the
workdir and the ip address that it is monitoring, but it hands
attempting to rename an existing file or some sort.

If any of you guys out there have any clue what my issue is, I'd be
very appreciative of any and all assistance you can render.
