All,

I have tried troubleshooting this but cannot figure it out.

I'm running MRTG using Perl on Windows, just like the official install
guide says. Unlike the official install guide, though, I am using
Cygwin so I can leverage commands like awk and grep in sh scripts.

I have MRTG working...when it runs from a DOS prompt or a Cygwin
prompt. But upon using the same command via the Windows Service, I get
the following error:

WARNING: Problem with External get 'C:\\mrtg\\bin\\mrtg-scripts\\bin\
\flexlm_crdm.sh':
Expected a Number for 'out' but nothing'
.

When I look at the flexlm_crdm.log file, it shows the timestamp and -1
-1 for values. However when I run it from the command line, it works
fine!

I'm thinking that the Windows service isn't getting the result back in
time and so it just gives up. I do have one cfg file working in the
windows service, but as soon as I add another dataset to it, it does
the same thing.

Does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot or what could be going
on?

I enjoyed reading your nice topic. I see you offer priceless info. Stumbled into this topic by chance but I’m sure glad I clicked on that link. You definitely answered all the questions I’ve been dying to answer for some time now. Will definitely come back for more of this.
