Hi,
my friend just gave me an external USR Sportster 33.6K modem, but
without power adaptor and s/w driver. I am thinking of getting it to
work with my pc, for normal usage (e.g emailling, etc).

I am just wondering if anyone has this type of modem? if you do, could
you tell me the spec of the modem, particularly the power adaptor,
like what voltage, the polarity, etc. Unfortunately, it doesnt say
that at the back of the modem itself, and I couldnt attach a pic of
it. Basically, it looks like a rectangle box (white color), with
parallel port interface at the back. Also, there are some dip switches
at the rear. There is a on-off switch on the front.

Also, really appreciate if you could send me the sw driver for the
modem as well. email: choon_ng(at)hotmail.com

Thanks in advance.

rgds,
ch

It's a USR Sportster. Will need the model number for the power specs
though - they varied considerably.

There should be a sticker on the back with that information.

No "driver" is required.

It does not have a parallel port on the back, that is an RS-232 (serial)
port.

If you have Win95 or later, the files needed are already there.

You will need to determine the product ID code which should be on a barcode
on the bottom of the unit. Go to http://www.usr.com/support/s-main-menu.asp
and follow the link to Product Code.

Here's the list of adapters by product ID code...
