Hi-- I emailed this to usr support; good ol' usr responded with "we cannot
help you over email, please call us". Before trying something that
drastic, I thought I'd check in here first :). Thanks for any help that
can offered.

Description of Issue: I have a US Robitics 56k modem, model 5686-03,
currently with v.90 code. I saw that the v.92 upgrade was available, so I
downloaded ControlCenter and tried to upgrade it. The upgrade downloaded
successfully, but during the flash update process an error occurred and
the program quit. Now on the modem only the TR light is lit up and I
can't dial or anything with it, and when I try to enter some ati commands
via a terminal program, I get mostly errors and rubbish and a "Boot>"
prompt. When I try to use ControlCenter to flash from disk using the
downloaded upgrade file, nothing happens when I hit the update button-- or
I suppose nothing is happening... the button greys out, no dialogs appear,
no modem lights flash, and it just stays like that for a very very long
time until I eventually reset. Any ideas on what to do to get the modem
working, either with v.92 or any other code?

You will likely have to return it for repair. The Sportster line cannot
recover from a failed flash attempt - the code it needs to flash is part of
the flash itself.

If you can talk to the modem with a terminal program, try to enter
the command ATGM to leave flash mode. Then issue AT&F1 and see if
you get an "OK" response. If it won't work, then the flash was
corrupted, so you will have to send it in for repair. Good luck.

D'oh! Ah well, thanks for the tips.
