Sam:

I Found this phone number at www.avaya.com
To place an order call 1-800-457-1235 or 1-410-568-3680.

I looked in my AT&T Partner Documentation and found nothing. Went to my AT&T
Spirit Documentation and found an obscure reference that might help. (see
next paragraph) Even went to my Merlin Documentation and found nothing. They
all have SMDR ports that are RJ-45 modular jacks, but no reference to
pin-outs.

AT&T is so corporate, I have a strong hunch that if you could get the AT&T
Spirit adapter, it would work on the Partner system. The Spirit
Documentation refers to an "AT&T 355A" adapter to connect to DTE (Printer)
or an "AT&T 355AF" adapter to connect to DCE (computer). I am sure this is
so old that this adapter would be a DB-25. It may even be so old it is the
wrong gender (the original serial ports on computers were female gender, not
male).  I suspect that if you can get Avaya to convert the AT&T number to an
Avaya part number, you might be in business. You would need a DB-25 to DB-9
adapter (or 6-inch pigtail) and you may also need a DB-25 male-to-male
gender changer. AT&T always used straight-thru RJ-45 patch cords (same as a
standard 4-pair Cat-5 patch cord, which might be easier to put your hands
on). The Spirit manual suggests a maximum of 50-feet. I have stretched that
further with Cat-5 cabling, but you should start with less than 50 feet.

Best Wishes,

George

I found the answer recently when trying to do the same thing by searching the
comp.dcom.telecom* groups using
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en

Can't comment on whether these solutions worked, as we already had the part in
question.

revelant results from Usenet search on google:
