Hi all,

Can anyone please give me any pointers on installing DBD::Sybase on
Windows XP? Or an alternative to using DBD::Sybase maybe ...

I have a an XP Pro box with Sybase ASE 12.5 and Active State Perl
5.8.8.817 installed. I'd like to get this box talking to Sybase ASE 11.0.3
running on a Redhat Linux 9 box. I already have DB Artisan running on the
windows box and that can talk quite happily to the Linux ASE. I've also
installed ASE-12.5 + DBD::Sybase on several Linux boxes.

The problem I foresee is that DBD::Sybase compiles against ctlib and that
isn't going to happen on XP, or at least not easily. Does anyone provide
precompiled modules for this purpose? The PPM archive used by default by
AS Perl doesn't have any. I'm am investigating alternative PPM archives.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has solved this problem (Win32 Perl
talking to Linux ASE-11.0.3) or anyone who has any ideas where I might go
next.

TIA
Rich

There are some precompiled binaries on
http://www.peppler.org/downloads/ActiveState. With a bit of luck one of
those will work.

I seem to have enough luck, the most recent of each (DBI,DBD) worked
out of the box. Thanks :-)
