Any Feedback from the Tiger Logic Conference?

Welcome Reception is tonight, opening and sessions start tomorrow.
I found that out this morning after I told my clients I would be
unavailable for the day - glad I checked the confirmation email right
before I flew out of the house...

you socks off info? (or ho-hum?)
IIRC there were about 150 people at the "last" conference I remember
back in 1999, from South America, (South) Africa, Europe (mainly
poms), Asia & Australia

I'll have more on my blog after I catch up with business. In short:
- There were no major announcements except that TigerLogic is "back"
both technically and in a business sense.
- Susie Siegesmund explained she was presenting at a TL conference
simply because the two companies have similar goals and challenges.
- Susie and Rick Koe presented a positive, unified message for the
community, something we haven't heard since SMA in the 1980's.
- There were about 80 people representing almost every worldwide
market. It was understandably small for various reasons, but I think
a lot of people are going to be sorry they didn't get the good
business messages right from the source.
- There is talk of another conference next year, and if properly
marketed I expect that will be a lot larger.
- Technically, they covered what they said they would on the website.
This wasn't a "knock yer socks off" conference. It simply helped
people to reaffirm their commitments, and it was a good kick off for
more things to come. Most of us were quite skeptical for the first
couple days, but the message from Susie and Rick sort of put that to
rest. I think the message needs to be propagated loud and clear
throughout the channel to whomever wants and needs to hear it.

Could you rephrase that?
Just to be clear, there was no talk of investments or shared business.
There was no misunderstanding that these companies are still
competitors, but it looks like they've come to understand what I've
been saying for years, that lack of collaboration at each tier of this
industry is getting us all nowhere.
I hope the leaders of the other DBMS providers will take the
initiative to contact Susie and Rick, to see if they can continue to
remain healthy competitors while still working toward the common goal
of increasing the size and improving the state of the MV market as a
whole.

You would be mistaken to read any more into Rocket Software's
participation at TigerLogic's Pick User Conference than Tony has
indicated. I would add that Tony's summary of the conference was
largely in agreement with my own view. I did think there was some
"socks-knocking" stuff with the TL XDMS but I'm still putting effort
into understanding that product and where it might fit. And, as
promised, we left with D3 v9.0 pre-beta installed as well as TL XDMS
and OpenDB 3.2.
And Ross, Rick suggested (without any prompting from me) that next
year's conference will be videoed and distributed for those unable to
attend.
