Have you checked c.d.o.misc?
why would I check there when I posted here?
Maybe you should pick a less common name.

?? What on Earth are you talking about? BEN? I'm sorry that my name
is common, it didn't pick it to begin with.
What? You think my name is really gazzag?
Anyway, to answer your original question, no, this newsgroup is not
moderated. I suspect PEBCAK.

I meant to add, isn't this your post?
I believe that's where I told you to look in the first place.
good point, but I shouldn't have to change my name to something unique
to keep a post where I posted it.

While it is possible that I posted it there, I highly doubt it. I
never go there and usually just click on the group from 'my groups' in
google.
My account of what happened is that I made two posts yesterday to
c.d.o.s and today both of them are in c.d.o.m. As a matter of fact I'm
about 99.9998% sure I posted in here, as I checked it several times
yesterday and never went to cdom to do so.

yes, it is and I found it over there after you said to check there,
BUT I didn't post it there. Why my name being set to Ben should have
any bearing on it being there is beyond me.
Well, if I see your "missing" posts I'll tell them you're looking for
them.
:) ok. tell them to bring me a ham samich too.
Your name doesn't have anything to do with it, but having a unique
name helps in _finding_ your own posts.
One of the options when you are viewing your messages is "show
original". This displays the post as it looks to all the computers
involved without any additional formatting (except with the email
obscured to somewhat inhibit harvesting email by spambots). Your
header looks like this:

So we can see that you posted to cdom whether you remember it or not.
Another option is "view profile." This shows all the posts you've
made. Note that viewing this from your post in this thread gives a
yahoo address with cdos posts, while from the cdom thread it shows
your gmail address with cdom and brewing posts. They both show your
same picture.
It seems google groups is smart enough to differentiate your different
profiles. I've also run into this, as, for example, when I'm posting
from cdos it shows me as Joel Garry, but from other places it shows me
as jgar the jorrible (a very old joke from text based gaming on PDP
systems that only allowed very short logins). Google changes how this
works without notice, sometimes slipstreaming in breaks or fixes, with
sometimes hilarious results as this propagates to who you are for blog
postings. Since your picture is there, you must have figured out how
to modify your profile (unless it propagated from an older yahoo
account, which I doubt as my own experience is yahoo periodically
forgets about me, don't get me started on flickr screwups).
This is called SSO (Single Sign On), which of course becomes a silly
misnomer when applied to multiple users over multiple functional
domains, as with the Oracle OTN and metalink. Google uses your email
to log in, and lets you have multiple emails with multiple profiles,
and change those (it didn't used to, which is why I kept my bogus
email when the @home domain moved to Japan. Very effective anti-spam
filter. Nowadays it makes less difference, though watch out if you
let one go and someone else grabs it.) Metalink used to be AFU with
changing email addresses, don't know if they've fixed it.
Anyways, searching on my name allows me keep up with direct responses
to my posts. Searching on author ben gives millions of posts, some of
which you may not like. Some people give more credence to posts from
real identities.

@home.com is bogus.

Ok, so I'm only 29. I'm hoping my memory isn't that bad already. You
replied to the post, do you remember if you replied within cdos or
cdom? not that it really matters, but just wondered.
I typically search on my email address to find posts that I've made.
There are two that seem to get used though, which I attribute to the
single sign on, stuff you mention above.
My in-laws wanted a dvd player for mother's day. When I bought it
over to hook it up for them, I found they already had one. When they
had gotten a new tv, it only had one input (but a built-in VCR), so
they just put the dvd player on the shelf underneath and forgot about
it. Turns out raising parents is as hard as raising children.

I tend to reply where I see things. Sometimes I fall into the overly-
crossposted trap, when I should be watching. Anyways, you can see by
the thread and check headers for to be sure.

@home.com is bogus.
Then there's this guy: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/education/20080514-0430-collegegenius.html
I really need to remember that last paragraph...
You can also find your posts by going to view your profile and there
it has a history of the posts you have made.
