Just curious if others are able to get in..
cheers
I get the opening page when I go to http://metalink.oracle.com but
then get the IE error after a timeout when clicking on the "Sign In"
button to try to get to the secure page. (10:54am Eastern)
It worked for part of the day.
They are now probably restoring Classic Metalink.
I hope.
I'm stuck at 90% loaded after login, with it flashing benefits like
Faster Problem Resolution and Improved System Stability. (10AM PST)

What if Phoebe Cates was your mom?
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/news/2009/nov/08/fast-times-class-rolls-back-clock/
It worked OK for me with IE 8 a couple hours before your post. The
site had performance problems displaying search results - even
clicking a link in the search results sometimes required more than a
minute to display the matching result page. This was my first time
using the Flash based interface. The new interface did look
interesting with a lot of potential, but it was a bit too cluttered,
especially with things popping up on the screen as the mouse pointer
was moved. It did not help that the message "Unable to communicate
with server - Server Timeout" appeared at the top right of the web
page, and when I clicked on one of the search results the navigation
area of the page (at the left and top) was blurred (disabled) making
it impossible to select a different page (search result or other page)
to view - even the back button in the browser had no effect (this was
noticed at about the time of your post).
One thing that I noticed when accessing the site for the first time
(or after a restart of IE), when the flash loading message appeared,
my computer showed that it was hitting the upper transfer limit for
the T1 Internet connection while the flash loading message was on the
screen - the message must have remained on the screen for 10 to 20
seconds. If the same behavior is present for everyone accessing the
site, I would imagine that the Internet bandwidth requirements at the
Metalink site must be very high and might be contributing to a self
inflicted denial of service.

It's not called Metalink anymore - it's now called My Oracle Support :-)
Already missing the old name...

I now use Google Chrome (Internet Exploder just gives me a white screen,
but I did experiment with my settings for some other site, so it may be
my fault). With Chrome, it all works ok now.

There should be an option without Flash (html login) but once you have
Flash enabled, it does not show in the menu. So here's the link for
Metalink without Flash:
https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/signin_en.html#

Well... that link doesn't work either, but this one does (for now at least)

To flash or not to flash.....
After quite a few tries, finally got in.
It had lost all my prior customizations.
Then when I tried to customize the dashboard,
it crashed FF and IE.
Ah well, I'm gonna give it another coupla days
before bothering...

I believe that Oracle Corp. has transcended the earthly testing. The users
will do the testing.

Thanks! As for the commercial breaks, here is a really good commercial:
LOL: you need FLASH PLAYER to see it..... I just uninstalled that to see
the non-flash link on MOS...
Shakespeare
Firefox has an extension called "flashblock" which can block flash
selectively. Needless to say, if you don't unblock oracle.com, your
Firefox will work like a charm with the no-flash ML.

It's beginning to sound like I'm the only person on the forums,
newsgroups, and list-servers not having problems.
I guess I must be the one holding the exclusive metalink lock.

I don't like too much new look of My Oracle Support, sometimes login
requires a lot of time (it can take some minutes
showing the slogan "faster problem resolution" :) ). It seem to me
that situation here (in Italy) get worse on the
afternoon.

That may simply be because the hardware is in the US, and the
Americans are just starting their day as the Italians are heading
into their afternoon.

How professional and respectful!
And here is my reply:

Probably gonna ensure that I'll never receive one of their "awards".
Or indeed the promised "golf day" after we padded their pockets to the tune of 6
figure license fees and yearly maintenance updates...
(BTW, I never intended to accept the promise: it'd be unprofessional to do so.
Yes, I know, it's a quaint dba 1.0 concept, professionalism...)
But then again: since when did any of that stop me?
:)

Likely. I've been using the MOS interface for months now, and it has been
notoriously reluctant to cooperate in the last few days. Leaving it alone until
it stabilizes into some semblance of usability...

10046 time?
Here in Belgium login is also taking a long time... (well, longer than the
"old" Metalink). But once inside I didn't encounter any problems yet. And
all my bookmarks are there.

All,
Sorry for starting a new thread on this yesterday, this one completely
got past me. I finally got in last night around 8PM. This morning,
I'm getting no love.
I really think Oracle is getting too large for their own good. This
has to be one of the worst software project releases I have ever seen.
Regards,
Steve
Why don't you tell us what you really think? :-D
BTW, CW lined out the clueless word in the blog post. I think he was
trying to be funny, FWIW.

I doubt if the guy will get fired, and he probably will deserve an
award having to be the face of this disaster. If I may dive into
improbable paranoia for a moment, I wonder if they purposely did this
before a bank holiday? For the information of those outside the US or
otherwise wouldn't know, today is Veterans Day.

Two different radio stations this morning.
CW actually apologised:

Probably after reading this article in CW (!):

BTW: I must have been very lucky; I didn't try to login to MOS until 10
minutes ago, and got in like a flash ...
(which is to say: it is performing the same as it was doing 1 or 2 weeks
ago, which is worse than Classic ML, but acceptable for my limited needs)
Cheers!

Ah yes, the revisionism started. Good thing I saved the page at the
right time. Nothing like a bit of true history.

Good on him! He also apologized in my blog, read the comments.
Needlessly: it's to clients he has to do so, I'm just the "Negative
Nellie"...

Most unfortunate, really. Why is it that other companies don't have
these kind of problems?
A hint would be: they LISTEN to their customers, instead of spending
huge marketing budgets deriding them.

Oh, I fully expect everyone from now on to all of a sudden have great
results and no problems whatsoever.
That was, however, hardly the point...

You sir, owe me a bottle of screen cleaner fluid!
HTML version no longer has my favorites. It looks that we are to be
punished for preferring HTML.
Looks like Larry is getting ready to sell to Bill?
More eye candy than contents.
Oracle: look at Google! Why do you think Google was a hit to start
with? Yup! A clean and mean, no flashy interface.

Had nothing to do with flash or html version - just
tried html today (luckily the old Patchset links are
unchanged in the html version), with the
same link above
Tip when stuck at 90%: keep hitting refresh!
Another one to add to the list. Currently, no searches work for me on
MOS with Firefox or IE. This is a really surreal experience. I know
it is rhetorical, but how on earth was this released?!!

Searches are working for me ... can you give a specific example of a
search that fails so I can try to reproduce?
This one turned out to be just interminable slowness. There is a
small flash "spinning gizmo" on the right side of the page that I
missed, so it looked like it was an empty page.
