Hi,
Oracle 10.2.0.3 on Win 2003 Server
We have an Oracle database running in automatic undo management.
An application provider has to upgrade his application and needs the
database running in manual undo management.
I've never gone back to manual from auto ... could you give me any
advice? Do you know the best way to success?

Thank you very much for your help?

Best Regards,
Ismael

I would request the 'application' provider to send his 'developers' to
a course, so the 'application' doesn't need to walk on one leg and one
crutch.

One of the migration steps is the repository upgrade (the repository
is stored in the oracle database). For this step, they advise us to
change de undo management to MANUAL before running the processes that
are involved. It's not an application requirement, we can change to
AUTO after upgrading ...
Changing undo management to MANUAL is ONLY for the upgrade.
Could you help me?

The obvious solution is of course to take the documentation and to
read up on undo management,
and to notice you only need to create rollback segments and change the
undo_management parameter.
As this would have required you to do work, which you rather avoid,
you are asking a volunteer to abstract the docs.
Current DBA mentality is so sad....

I know that "I only need to create rollback segments and change the
undo_management parameter." ... But as I said, I haven't done it
before and I want to know if you were familiar with any issues that
could be a problem in this process ...
If you think asking for "experienced" help is the same that asking a
volunteer to abstract the docs ... don't worry I'm not going to ask
for help any more.

Thank you very much.
Sorry about my english

Why is the application server even concerned with the undo management?
That not something that an application server should address? My advice is
to change the app server. What is it trying to do? To address rollback
segments directly with "SET TRANSACTION USE ROLLBACK SEGMENT"? That has
been slightly deprecated for some time now.
