Good day wonderful people.
I am a new timer into the DBA (Oracle) world. I ve been trying to
setup 11g db on my PC to no avail.
Can someone guide throug on how to setup and configure my db on my
loalhost.
There re somany parameter to consider; listner, oraclenet and so on.
I am trying to install 11g release (OUI) into my windows XP.
Please help. I am going crazy coz I need it for practice in pursuit of
OCA (1z0-051)

Did you check the software requirements?  Is it XP Pro?

Windows XP is no longer supported. At least Vista is required, preferably
Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, R2 (not to be confused with the freshly
released Windows 8). You can get a great free version of Windows at
http:// www.centos.org. It doesn't cost you anything and Oracle 11G works
out of the box.

No such thing unfortunately ... becoming an Oracle DBA and getting
hired as one takes many years.

Jeffrey Hunter has a whole bunch of excellent set it up articles ...
all the steps ... all the details ...

Click the oracle link on left hand side and ( very carefully ) choose
one of the setups that makes sense to you.

A machine running XP won't cut it probably ... lots of
alternatives ... could put up a vm under virtual box and then run
linux on that ...

Make sure you match your machines operating system and requirements to
what Jeffrey lists as pre-requisites for the option you select.

On windows boxes, Hyper-V beats all the alternatives, including VMware.
VirtualBox doesn't even play in the same league. VirtualBox on Linux is a
rather crappy product, leaks memory all over the place. Two virtual
machines, 4GB RAM each, when running together take 12GB RAM. I wouldn't
use it on Windows. Hyper-V is much, much better.
