Somewhere you mention a PHP route. I think that will prove more
fruitful. Use MySQL to retrieve the data and then use a PHP loop to
format it to your liking.

I need the data in this format to feed Google Charts. It's probably
not a good idea cause I'm not sure if the order of the Amounts will
correlate with the order of the Region and Year. Plus I will need to
sum up amounts and filter out certain data. It will be pretty tough
to do all that using GROUP_CONCAT. I think I will have to store the

is there a statement tracer for mysql. i get wierd errors coming from
my app and i cannot debug what sql it is sending to mysql. so how do i
track the sql executed on the db. something like the mysql profiler.

I currently use HeidiSQL as a client to run MySQL queries from my WinXP PC.
But the features seem a bit lacklustre. For example it can only have one
quesry tab open which gets very annoying at times. Any other clients that
people can recommend?

UTF-8 in mysql database

I have a database containing foreign text, with some PHP that displays
its fields on the web. Within the database, I use UTF-8, so that
accented characters are stored as two bytes. The PHP to display it
specifies
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
so that it looks right in a browser.
