A client using Access 2007 called to say that she was unable to enter data in a section of the program. I logged on to her computer. When you open the navigation pane, no tables are listed; when I tried to create a query, no tables were available. However, when you open the form, you can see 150 people whose names, etc., are in the People table. I tried creating a new, blank database and importing the tables, but, again, no tables appear when I tried to import. I've compacted and repaired to no avail. Do you have any other suggestions for ways I can recover that hidden data?

She thought she was working on an external drive, but no file appeared on that drive. I suspect that her file became corrupted in the transfer process between her computer and the external drive (lots of queries were also missing).

Restore from backup. You do have backup?

Got my doubts about the backup. Anyway try David's suggestion first.

Are the tables hidden?
I am not familiar wil Access 2007 but suspect (based on Access 2010)
Goto
File --> Options -->Current Database -->Navigation Options-->Show Hidden
Objects

If that shows the missing tables, right click on the table and under the
Table Properties, make sure the Hidden Attribute is not ticked.

Phil, your suggestion made perfect sense. I checked it out on my computer and could get right to the navigation options. Unfortunately, on her computer, the Navigation Options are greyed out so we can't open them to change the settings. Any further suggestions? Nance

Not really. We know the tables are there as you can see peoples names in the
forms. Is the database an AccDb, AccDe, Mdb or Mde?
Is there a dropdown box on the top of the nav Pane (Access 2010 has a
dropdown which I normally set to All Access Objects and Object Type)? If this
box exists what happens if you right click on it? Phil
Can you see other objects in the Nave Pane (Qurries, forms, reports, modules
& Macros?

I told my client about accessing the Navigation Pane and Navigation Options. She was able to get into Options. Unfortunately, all the tables were checked as visible. Darn: I'd been so sure that was the problem. Any further ideas? The database is .mdb running on 2007.

This idea of getting hints from here that you relay to the client has rust
on it. Go on site and see for yourself or get a copy sent to you. In the
case of the latter you will be able to check if the environement has
anything to do with it. On the other hand go back to idea #1 and restore
from backup. You DO have backup don't you?
