I have just created my 2nd ever database. The database was built in
Access 2003 using the 2000 file structure. I have split the database
and have the backend loaded up on the company server and frontends
loaded on each workstation. When selecting a button on my switchboard
there is usually a little bit of a lag, but sometimes this lag can
last 5 seconds or more. Let's assume the network is working propery,
Is there anything I can do with in my database to speed the load times
up? If there is can you please be specfic as possible on the
instructions as I am still learning Access and have a long road ahead.

Thank you very much for any help!

I had a similar problem a while back. For me, it appeared it was due to
using long file names. Anyway, I looked at all of the solutions from
the following site.

As Salad states see the Performance FAQ page. I'd start with the first solution,
which involves using a bound form, and see if that makes the difference. Then work
your way down the list.

Thank you for your help! So far in initial testing it seemed like
long file names might have been my issue as well. I shortened the
file names and moved the file to only 1 folder deep in the server
directory instead of 5.

Thanks again!
