Speed Ferret and ReplaceWiz, I also know that you can use the find and
replace in access modules ,but that dose not search and replace
through form, report, query ..etc labels and control and properties,
dose any one know of any free utilities out their ?

No, I don't. Most everybody I know thinks Speed Ferret or F&R are well worth
the cost if they need something more than provided by Access itself. There
is a lot of effort in those products, FYI -- it's not something somebody
could whip up in an afternoon as an example.

Thanks for your info Larry , but how do you rate these products F&R ,
Speed Ferret and ReplaceWiz , in reference to price and features.

I am very fond of Speed Ferret which I have used both for Access 2 (provided
by the prime contractor on a contract where I was a subcontractor) and
Access 97, the version that I own personally; haven't used Rick Fisher's F&R
since the days of Access 2.0, and just haven't used Access 2000 enough to
offer an opinion on the Wizard.

I've only used Find and Replace, so can't compare it to others, but having
used it for several months now, in my opinion if Find and Replace cost twice
as much it would still be an amazing bargain. But anyway there's a shareware
version, so you can check it out for yourself before parting with any money.

I've used only Speed Ferret, but the first time I used it I more
than paid for it in the amount of time I saved, based on the task I
needed it.

I now have the Access97 version (which I bought online), but used
the Access 2 version, too (a friend "loaned" it to me). I've
received a brochure on the new version and it looks quite tempting
(one version supports all the major Access version, and adds
significant new functionality and UI changes). Anyone have any
comments on it?

I wanted the latest version to use one if its improved/new facilities with
A97. Have since used it for identifying problems in A2K programs, and am
very happy with the way it works. Especially its storing of settings for
each individual project. Buy it!

I'd highly recommend Speed Ferret, not only is it easy to use, stable
and a proficient product, the support - should you ever need it - is
also excellent.

I have downloaded and installed Speed Ferret 4 , ReplaceWiz 2000 and
F&R 9.0, Speed Ferret look like a very good product indeed but
it’s expensive , I guest its between F & R and ReplaceWiz both
seem to be working fine , I will continue testing both and keep you
updated.

I think Speed Ferret is worth every penny. If it saves you two
hours of manual work, it's more than paid for itself.

Here is the verdict, after a week of using both products (Demo
version) here is the facts (what I was able to find!) :

ReplaceWiz:

1. Ability to specify the objects to search in (forms, reports…).
2. Install and un-install feature.
3. Case sensitive search.
4. Different search options (Any Part of Text, Start of Word, End of
Word, Whole Word, Start of Line, End of Line, Whole Line, Pattern
(WildCard ) Find Only).
5. Ability to chose Selection of objects.
6. Ability to chose selection of properties.
7. Ability to Export, Print and view search results.
8. Ability to utilise system resources
9. Help file.
10. Price $ 45.

Find and Replace:

1. Ability to specify the objects to search in(forms, reports …).
2. No install and un-install facility.
3. Case sensitive search.
4. No different search options.
5. Ability to chose selection of objects???
6. Ability to chose selection of properties???
7. Ability to log find/changes
8. Fast search option
9. Help file.
10. Price $29.

Find and replace has one form or interface which is handy and you can
confirm each find and replace , ReplaceWiz is wizard like (4~5 Pages)
and searches all the objects first then you can chose which to replace
and which to keep.
