The Queensland Ingres User Group has been active for twenty years now.
Our web site is at www.qiug.org.au and contains details of previous
events and copies of several of the presentations. We strive for five
events per year.
If you have an Ingres- or computer-related interest that you think
would be of interest to the Queensland Ingres community and are
willing to share your experiences with a group of like-minded people,
we would love to hear from you. Do you have expertise in a language,
framework or product that you think we should hear about? Does your
company have a product that you are proud of and would like to tell us
about? Have you been involved in an interesting project?
There is no need that the topic be directly related to the Ingres
RDBMS; we have had presentations on Hibernate, Spring, Ruby, Software
Quality (CMMI) and the like in the past, which have been of great
interest and utility to our Members.
If you can help with the Qld Ingres User Group, or know something or
have done something you would like to share with the Group, please
contact us. Alternatively, if you would like more information on the
group, also please contact us. Our contact details are on http://www.qiug.org.au.
Also, if you would like to report a problem with our website, or if
you're bored and just want to talk about Ingres...

I can't think of a better place. Lets get some chatter going on the
group, the more the merrier.
Have you talked to Roy Hann about getting a cross posting on the UKIUA
website?

Which brings up another point. Last I looked, the Wikipedia entry on
Ingres was a bloody disgrace. All doom and gloom and not a hint of
information about what the DBMS can do. I know wikipedia is not supposed
to be hijacked by marketing dudes, but someone should go in and give
that site an editing it'll never forget.
I'd do some, but I'd end up getting sued for sticking in Duckman images.

Yep. Put in 'The pointy bit on Oz'. That orta clear up any confusion.
Marty
Right at the moment the biggest differentiator would be "the Wet bit
of Oz". That might not help people on the other side of the world
though...
John
Just don't mention the Crocs.

Well that was true until a few hours ago, but you've livened it up
already. Still it's a good point. Whoever wrote the original article
was plainly fixated on the past and not too interested in the present or
future.

Go Marty. I added a section heading already.
