Hi Everyone,

As you know, the annual UK IUA Summer conference is being held in
London on Tuesday, June 17, and will be free to attend again this
year.

In conjunction with the conference, the UK IUA and Ingres Corporation
are organizing an Ingres development sprint (aka codefest, hackathon--
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackathon) to be run over the
preceding weekend. The sprint will happen in the same hotel as the UK
IUA and we'll start at lunchtime on the 14th, wrapping things up
around mid-day on the 16th.
The sprint will bring together some of the top Ingres development
talent, including Doug Inkster, Grant Croker, Ray Fan and others, and
as many interested community members as we can find, with the
intention of developing one or more significant new features. We will
spend the weekend brainstorming and coding, and then we will present
the fruit of our labour at the IUA conference.

And as a bonus feature, there are two streams to the sprint! One will
focus on OpenROAD, the other on the server.

If you are actively working on the Ingres code, or you merely want to
see what is involved, you are strongly encouraged to attend. To get
more information, or to register your intention to attend, please
email me at sprin...@iua.org.uk.

Whether you decide to attend or not, please do forward this message to
everyone you can think of who may be interested.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone out there thinking about signing up
for the sprint, but you're worried it may be too hard-core?

It would only be too hard-core if Marty showed up.  Regardless of his state of dress.

You'll be delighted and relieved to hear that Marty finds England very cold,
and he is invariably wrapped up to his chin in woolies.
