Enterprise to WorkGroup Edition

We are tasked with going from Enterprise down to WorkGroup Edition in our development environments. Does this require a complete new install or can a simple swap of binaries be done?

It is always safest to install fresh in a separate directory then shutdown and swap the INFORMIXDIR link to point to the "new" installation, then just restart the WGE binaries and poof.

Have the decision makers been apprised of the features they will loose be moving down to WGE?  Are you currently taking advantage of any of them?  Are you likely to need any (like fragmentation/partitioning of tables or indexes to deal with a table approaching the 16million page limit for a single partition) sometime soon?  See this link for details:
