With the release of Delcam For SolidWorks the death of stand-alone CAM
will start in earnest with everyone in the integrated CAM business
benefiting.

And SpaceClaim, IronCad, ect... will die with them. .01% of the
marketshare is not enough to survive.

How did you ever drill holes before?
Or did you ... ?

"integrated CAM business"? One could just start out with a CAD/CAM
system in the first place I suppose .... as we have done for decades.

I doubt very much that everyone not using Solidworks will switch to a
package that requires both it AND Delcam. Many places use different CAM
systems for different machines. Why pay big bucks for another seat of 5
axis software if you have different departments with different machines
and programming requirements.

I've given the answer to this question several times in these
newsgroups and the answer is also given on Surfware's website as well
as others.

The answer is the the CAM vendor can sell you a copy of SolidWorks
part and assembly modeler for dirt cheap if you buy their CAM...
sometimes below $1,000 for just the SolidWorks part modeler. With
assembly it's below $2,000 maybe even less by now. This version of
SolidWorks doesn't have PDM stuff as well as the other crap that most
machining job shops don't need. If this question continues to be asked
I guess a page will be devoted to it on the Jon Banquer blog because
I'm already tried of answering this same question over and over. This
topic use to be covered on the CAMWorks web site. Not sure if it still
is because I have very little interest in CAMWorks at this point. That
may change.

What if jb does not know more than trying to drill a few planar holes
(if that)?
What good would 5 axes do him?

BTW, Should not DelCAM know more about their software
than he does? Yet he claims ...

With the release of Delcam For SolidWorks be another instance of Jon
Banquer copy and pasting a bunch of press releases and never using or
buying the software?
