We have assemblies where the same part (M10 flat washer, for example) appears in more than one location. When making the assembly drawing by default they all lump together. I need to create a helical curve that is normal to an existing helical curve. A spiral on a spiral so to speak. I have found several curve equations that are close, but what usually happens is that the secondary curve is not swept normal to the primary curve. I am using WILDFIRE 4 Under the file/open/drawing command a window pops up. 1. In that new window, I see there is no up button to change directories to the higher level folder. WHERE DID THAT GO?! using the alt key with the up arrow get you there but I want my button back if possible. 2. In the same window, the preview pane is now below the folder list.... more »

Creating a Mass Properties Feature

I've run across several methods, most a variation of the same 'Setup>Mass Props' snapshot, for dynamically capturing mass properties in a solid model, and parametrically, communicating this information to a drawing. Most were partially sucessfully, at best, but, over time, spectacular failures. I have a way around all the earlier failures. I'm using 'Analysis>Model Mass Props'. The trick is to go to the window at the bottom left. Instead of accepting the default 'Quick' selection, open the drop down and select 'Feature'. Accept the default name (MASS_PROP_1) or type in anything else. When you MMB, you'll notice a feature at the bottom of the model tree which shows your analysis feature.... more »
